Quilting Techniques of the 1930's
We will be doing an in depth study of the 1930's scrap quilts which we all love. Topics will include such things as background and influences, characteristics of these quilts, the type of fabrics and colours used, favourite patterns and special techniques. We will make several blocks to try out various techniques typical of this time period.

Floral Vase and Feathered Star
Part I: Make your applique come alive by learning to use a wide range of fabrics in various colour values to create a floral vase block which has visual depth and excitement. Add textural interest and shading by using inking and colouring techniques to create a truly unique block.

Part II: Learn how to accurately and easily make a beautiful feathered star quilt by using rotary cutting and quick piecing techniques. Use the Floral Vase block as the center of this lovely feathered star medallion quilt or if you are only taking Part II, use any 15 1/2 x 15 1/2 inch block of your choice. The center block can be another applique block or it could be the same large floral print used for the star points and borders. A sewing machine and rotary cutting equipment will be needed for Part II.
